Electronic Structure Database (ESDb)
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I get access to uploading data? : you must contact the administrator (email listed on the About page) with your name, position (e.g. professor, graduate student, etc.), your affiliation (viz. your university and group or company), and your reason for uploading to the database.
- If a material I am interested in is not in the database how did I go about this? : if the system has been studied and published you may upload it to the database and will be acknowledged for your contribution. However, if this material has not been studied previously and you would like someone to look into it, for instance if you are an experimentalist using the database, then you can submit a material search form and those members looking for work will be notified and if they are interested in collobaration will be given your information to contact you.
- Why do I need priveledged access to upload to the database? : In order to keep the database safe from unessesary modifications and so results can be screened such that erroroneous results aren't uploaded.
- How do I interpret the reliability factor for a given set of data? : The reliability factor is a rating set by the community. The idea is to build up confidence in a given electronic structure for a given system. A high reliability factor should ideally indicate that the community believes that computation to be an appropriate representation of reality. A low factor should indicate that the community does not have much faith in the reliability of the data
